Position Overview
Community Building Services is seeking a dynamic and culturally engaged individual to serve as a Part-Time Youth Program Instructor. This role supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of community-based cultural programs and events, with a focus on inclusivity, creativity, and community engagement.

Employment Type: This position is part-time, grant-funded, and CBS makes no guarantee, either expressed or implied, that the position will continue for the duration of the grant. Should CBS receive an extension of the grant, continued employment is at the discretion of CBS.

Job Summary
The Youth Program Instructor serves as an educator and mentor for youth participating in CBS programs. This role is responsible for planning, facilitating, and delivering culturally responsive educational and developmental activities, supporting community-based programs that promote academic success, life skills, leadership, and positive youth development. The instructor works closely with youth, families, and community partners to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment to ensure high-quality, inclusive, and culturally relevant programming. Participate in hosting community events, adhering to the CBS’s vision, mission, core values, and promises.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Arts, Humanities, Social Work, Cultural Studies, or a related field.
- Extensive knowledge of community cultural dynamics and traditions.
- Strong project and event management skills or willing to learn.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Reliable Transportation
- Experience working with immigrant/refugee communities
- Bilingual (e.g., Nepali & English)
- Experience in nonprofit or community programming
- Experience in youth arts, dance, or cultural programming
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Social Work, Cultural Studies, or related discipline.
- Experience working with diverse communities in a cultural or educational setting.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.
- Teaching Certification, experience in teaching and mentoring
- First Aid/CPR certification

Program Instruction & Youth Engagement
- Plan, design, and deliver educational classes and workshops (e.g., communication skills, leadership, cultural arts, wellness).
- Provide appropriate supervision based on youth safety, developmental, and emotional needs.
- Build positive relationships with youth and serve as a mentor and role model.
- Maintain a safe, clean, structured, and supportive environment that promotes cooperation and respect.
- Pay close attention to and respond appropriately to potentially dangerous or risky situations.
Curriculum Development & Cultural Programming
- Develop a culturally and age-appropriate curriculum in collaboration with staff and obtain approval from the Program Director.
- Ensure programming reflects community values and has cultural relevance.
- Select appropriate music/songs for dance classes and cultural instruction.
- Support choreography development and performance planning for cultural showcases.
Program Coordination & Event Support
- Assist the Program Coordinator in organizing and executing cultural events, classes, workshops, and community programs.
- Provide logistical support including setup, coordination, implementation, and follow-up for events.
- Maintain program calendar, schedules, and activity planning.
- Coordinate with community members, partners, and stakeholders to ensure culturally responsive programming.
Community Engagement & Outreach
- Promote programs and events through community outreach and social media platforms.
- Host periodic meetings with parents/guardians to share program updates, progress, and resources.
- Foster strong relationships with families to support youth success and participation.
Monitoring, Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate documentation including attendance records, activity logs, and feedback reports.
- Monitor youth participation and track progress and outcomes.
- Support evaluation and reporting requirements for programs and grants.
Transportation & Operational Support
- Provide transportation for youth to and from program activities and events when required, in compliance with CBS policies and safety guidelines.
- Ensure safe arrival and supervision during transitions between locations.
Professionalism & Compliance
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Follow CBS policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of participant and organizational information.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Represent CBS professionally in community settings and events.

Position Type: This position is an “At Will” FLSA non-exempt employee, not eligible for CBS benefits, and must work on a required basis as a volunteer, and hours will be determined when there is funding. An “at will” employee who may be terminated for any reason, without notice, and without a pre-termination hearing.
Work Environment:
This position involves both office-based tasks and on-site program coordination. Repetitively standing, moving, bending, etc. Active participation in youth activities. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required based on event schedules. Work with youth and deal with certain working conditions that may cause exposure to biohazards such as human waste and vomit.
