Cultural Development Program: Dance

Tek Neopany, as a Project Manager for Bhutanese Community in Utah (CBS), wrote grant proposals and received little funding from Utah Arts and Museums. With this funding he managed dance class at Granite School District building located at 2500 S State Street during 2015-2017. The dance class was Choreographed by Mrs. Krishna Bastola. After experiencing inconvenient, the class was moved to Church located at 2700 S 300 E and choreographed by succeeding Sandhya Kafley, and Pratima Magar until 2020. During the peak Pandemic phase, Aruna Sunwar hired by Community Building Services, substituted to BCU, accepted the offer and conducted dance class virtually until November 2023 at the location South Salt Community Center (Co Op) on Fridays from 4 – 7 pm. Winter break began.

Community Building Services launches its dance class with 30 children age ranges from 6 to 18 years old at 1860 South 300 East Columbus Center. The Dance class is choreographed by Mrs. Gyani Rana coordinated by Mr. Gyamphu Dilpali Rai. The Dance started on Saturday, February 17, 2024, time: 11:00 pm – 2:00 pm. The dance class aims at preparing kids to perform dance on Women Festival – Teej in August-September, Nepali New Year in mid-April, Asian Festival, World Refugee Day, Living Traditions, Craft Lake City Do It Yourself festival, Celebrate South Salt Lake, Columbus event.

Currently, this dance program operated by Community Building Services is funded by Salt Lake City Arts Council and Salt Lake County ZAP Funding.
