Community Champion Internship Program 2026 Kicks Off

Salt Lake City, UT — Community Building Services (CBS) is proud to announce the launch of the Community Champion Internship Program 2026, running from May 11 through August 21, 2026. This summer’s program reflects CBS’s continued commitment to workforce development, leadership cultivation, and hands‑on learning for emerging professionals.

CBS Founder & Executive Director Tek Neopany will serve as the Field Supervisor for the 2026 cohort, guiding interns through meaningful, mission‑driven projects that support organizational growth while strengthening professional competencies.

Interns Matched for Key Organizational Roles

We are excited to share that intern matches have officially been confirmed for two critical positions that support CBS’s transparency, sustainability, and digital presence:

  • Hazel WildeAnnual Impact Report Intern
  • Jovanny CelisFinancial Reporting & Website Development Intern

These interns will contribute to high‑impact deliverables that advance CBS’s storytelling, accountability, and community engagement while gaining valuable, transferable career skills.

Orientation & Pre‑Internship Workshop

To ensure interns begin the program confident and well‑prepared, students will participate in a mandatory orientation and workshop prior to the internship start date. This interactive session is designed to set clear expectations while fostering professional growth from day one.

Workshop training includes:

🔹 Internship Overview & Expectations

Interns will review their roles and responsibilities, learning goals, and expected outcomes. The session also covers professional introductions, effective communication with supervisors, and how to arrange site visits prior to the internship start.

🔹 Policies & Procedures

This segment outlines work schedules, attendance expectations, time‑tracking requirements, and communication protocols with supervisors and career coaches throughout the internship period.

🔹 Professional Development & Growth

Students will explore the “why” behind their work, identify transferable skills, take ownership of projects, recognize challenges, and build problem‑solving strategies by offering thoughtful, solution‑oriented ideas.

🔹 Lessons Learned from Early Career Experiences

Experienced professionals will share insights and lessons learned from early career mistakes—providing interns with practical wisdom, encouragement, and perspective as they navigate their own career journeys.

During these meetings, interns and supervisors will:

  • Establish clear expectations
  • Confirm work schedules
  • Discuss project scope and summer availability

Work Hours & Flexibility

CBS provides funding for interns to work up to 19 hours per week, with a minimum expectation of 15 hours per week. Recognizing that some students may have pre‑planned vacations or study‑abroad opportunities, supervisors are encouraged to collaborate with interns to accommodate schedules while maintaining program integrity.

Ongoing Support & Coaching

Throughout the internship period, students will receive continued support from Early Exploration Coaches, who will check in bi‑weekly to offer guidance, problem‑solving assistance, and professional coaching as needed. This layered support system ensures interns feel connected, supported, and empowered throughout the summer.

Investing in Future Community Leaders

The Community Champion Internship Program is more than an internship—it is an investment in the next generation of community‑minded professionals. By combining structured learning, intentional mentorship, and real‑world impact, CBS continues to cultivate leaders who are prepared to serve, innovate, and lead with purpose.

We look forward to welcoming Hazel Wilde and Jovanny Celis to the CBS team and celebrating the meaningful contributions they will make during the Summer 2026 Community Champion Internship
